WELCOME TO THE GUNGOR

Desde que criei o blog e começei a trazer bandas novas (pouco conhecidas pela maioria) para vocês, uma das primeiras que veio à minha mente foi o Gungor. E principalmente esse cd o Beautiful Things.

Eles fazem um trabalho simplesmente Magnifico, detalhado, minucioso, cativante e todos os adjetivos maravilhosos possiveis. E impossível ouvir e não se deleitar nas melodias e se só isso já não bastasse as letras são divinamente inspiradas. Uma gloriosa mistura de Folk / Indie / Worship / Rock Alternativo / Blues, um som muito original e diferente do que concerteza estamos acostumados a ouvir.

Esse concerteza irá entrar no seu Hall dos preferidos, para mim é um dos melhores albuns Cristãos já escritos e produzidos em todos os tempos.

Gungor é formado por Michael Gungor, sua esposa Lisa, que partilha as composições e os vocais, e os amigos Brad Waller e Josh Ramsey  na guitarra e baixo.

A capa do album já traduz muito do que esperar no projeto: criatividade e uma mensagem de esperança. Veja como eles usam elementos de guerra, dor e destruição para formar um pequeno jardim com flores: Mesmo em meio a todas as adversidades e dor, ainda há esperança e é possivel tentar fazer "Pequenas coisas belas".

Dois minutos de  Beautiful Things, O novo CD de Gungor, o ouvinte percebe: "Uau. Isto é realmente diferente. E é muito bom.

Muita coisa mudou nos últimos anos para Michael Gungor e seus companheiros: nome da banda novo, local novo, igreja nova, um som novo, e o mais importante uma nova compreensão do que significa ser um seguidor de Jesus. 

"A história de Deus tem ficado cada vez maior para mim", relata Michael Gungor. “Nos tornamos profissionais cristãos, chegamos ao ponto em que precisava descobrir como ser a igreja de uma forma mais honesta para nós."

Esta grande história de Deus mostra-se em Beautiful Things em canções que nasceram de uma jornada de fé sincera e uma luta com o que deve resultar a adoração.

"Se a adoração é apenas um líder trazendo um grupo de pessoas a uma sala para que possamos ter arrepios e cantar junto, não há muito valor nisso. Mas se o líder de adoração é um meio para um fim, temos que sair deste lugar como um tipo diferente de pessoas, como parte de uma nova humanidade que Deus quer criar - as pessoas que cuidam das viúvas e órfãos, que não são obrigadas pelos sistemas deste mundo, mas tornam-se livres, tornando-se plenamente empenhados em nosso mundo – isso é o que importa".

É fascinante ver o que levou Gungor a este ponto de introspecção. Ele tem liderado louvor desde os 12 anos de idade, se você contar uma audiência de crianças de 2 e 3 anos. De lá, ele ajudou a formar a igreja a partir das crianças, grupo de jovens, em seguida, então os adultos. Gungor estudou jazz na faculdade. 

Como a visão de Deus mudou para Gungor, mudou também sua idéia de igreja, ele e sua esposa se mudaram para Denver e finalmente fundaram a comunidade de crentes chamados Bloom. Uma conexão entre a adoração e a justiça social tornou-se concreta, em Denver, e o resultado é evidente no Beautiful Things. 

Ironicamente, a maioria das músicas não é directamente sobre como cuidar dos pobres e ministrar às viúvas e órfãos. Em vez disso, a maior parte do álbum trata da jornada espiritual e a compreensão de Deus, que acontece quando fazemos esses atos. Como muitos antes dele, Gungor teve de lutar contra os sentimentos de desilusão. "Às vezes parece que o amor simplesmente vira pó", admite Gungor. 

"Este álbum é uma expressão de esperança que Deus vai fazer coisas bonitas do pó em nossas vidas, que Deus vai nos usar de alguma forma, utilizar a nossa obediência e amor, o nosso esforço fraco humano, e construir um reino." Gungor conquistou esta esperança com grandes palavras poéticas.

Suas análises refletem os fundamentos de sua vocação e levaram Michael Gungor a alterar o nome de sua banda. O ex-Michael Gungor Band, cuja estréia em 2008, com o Ancient Skies, ganhou aclamação da crítica, é agora simplesmente Gungor. "É como eu gostaria de ir como uma banda, 'The Michael Gungor Band' não faz sentido", diz Michael. "Então, nós estamos mudando o nome para Gungor, para ser um pouco menos concretamente sobre uma pessoa frontal. Eu não quero que essa banda simplesmente seja sobre mim."

Assim como a banda é muito mais do que uma pessoa, este álbum é sobre um Deus tão grande e imponente que a nossa resposta deve ser profunda, criativa e apaixonada. Em Beautiful Things, Gungor conseguiu exatamente isso.
